EU to tap IT firms

for the European Union (EU) to move in. The European Multimedia Forum
(EMF), a leading European trade association is planning to set up its
second 'accelerator hub' in India, the first being in the US.

Unlike the US, the Europe nations are not against outsourcing and are
in fact welcoming the Indian IT companies with open arms.
The European Commission in association with Interactive Technology Software
and Media Association (ITSMA) on Thursday launched two initiatives. Accelerator
and PATENT, facilitating collaboration between SME companies in India
and European Union.

"Indian small and medium enterprises must look for specific needs
of the European SMEs, which big companies there do not have and which
are also significant in size when added up," said Dr. Bob Hoekstra,
the chief executive officer, Philips Software Centre. He was speaking
at The Indo-European IT SME Forum organized by Interactive Technology
Software and Media Association and co-sponsored by European Commission,
in Bangalore on Thursday.
