European Forum plans IT initiative
Bangalore, 29 March, 2004
Business Standard

European Multimedia Forum (EMF) has announced that it will launch its "international multimedia accelerator" and "patent" initiatives in India.

These initiatives were launched during the Indo-European IT SME Forum, which was inaugurated by Bob Hoekstra, chief executive officer, Philips Software Centre.

EMF is a non-profit European association dedicated to the development of the digital media industry.

It aims to create a services environment that would facilitate companies in India and EU to partner and collaborate better. Meanwhile, EMF seeks to stimulate research and development in Indian IT small and medium enterprises by opening new partnerships and avenues to their cutting edge work.

Both these initiatives would provide a significant boost to IT SMEs in terms of market expansion. According to Philippe Wacker, secretary general, EMF. "As Europe looks for partnership and outsourcing opportunities, there is a need for an environment which would enable companies from Europe and outside to be able to talk to each other and develop win - win alliances."
