Objectives:
The SIDEREUS proposal aims at increasing economic cooperation between Europe and Asia, encouraging growth and transnational agreement in the regions and promoting mutually beneficial economic co-operation relationships between European and Asian SMEs and larger companies in the aerospace sector, with a special focus on GALILEO-based satellite navigation applications. Galileo will be Europe’s own global navigation satellite system, providing highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control. Galileo is conceived as a core infrastructure upon which applications will be built. The applications made possible by Galileo stretch beyond the determination of a user’s position and time, and instead integrate new technologies to satisfy coming user needs. Applications will cover a wide range of sectors, including: Transport, Energy, Finance Banking and Insurance, Agriculture and Fisheries, Personal navigation, Emergency and Crisis Management, Environmental Management, Surveying, Recreation. The Sidereus has the following strategic objectives:
FILAS, Italy: FILAS the Lead Partner in this project is the financial development agency of Lazio Region founded by the Lazio Region in 1975. FILAS is entrusted with assisting SMEs, in promoting new technologies and innovation at large. FILAS main mission consists in assisting the implementation of EC programmes, managing specific measures of the Structural Funds and programmes within the DG Regional Policy. China Consulting Association, China: CCA, established in April 2003 and registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, is a non-profit and self-disciplinary social body of Chinese consulting area. As a bridge between the consulting service and the government, it is an important driving force in developing the country’s Consulting Industry. ITSMA, India: ITSMA is a Not-for-Profit organization based in Bangalore. It represents the interests of the industry and in particular of the small and medium sized enterprises and is well known to the entire Indian IT community. ITSMA networks with businesses and institutions involved in the development of ICT technology, its distribution and service provision and thus associates with a range of Aerospace companies. GAIA, Spain: GAIA is a professional, non-profit making association dedicated to promoting the development and growth of the Basque electronics, information and telecommunications sector. Since it is designated Telecommunications Cluster, it also coordinates the cooperation between different companies, public administration, users, universities with the goal of developing the information society and of creating an advanced, highly competitive sector in the Basque Country. BAVAIRIA, Germany: Since 1990, the Bavarian Ministry of Economics, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology invested more than 180 Million Euros in the aerospace and satellite navigation business resulting in the current available strong power, reflected by the annual turnover of 4.8 Billion € and the strong position in the satellite navigation area. HBIC, UK: The Hertfordshire Business Incubation Centre (HBIC) was established in 2003 to support the following Industry sectors: Aerospace and Defence – biotechnology- Information Communication Technology (ICT). With partners including GlaxoSmithKline, MBDA, EADS Astrium, Lloyds TSB Corporate, Ernst & Young, Aston Science Park, University of Hertfordshire, EEDA, Stevenage Borough Council and North Hertfordshire College HBIC have a wealth of support from major market influences and a mature network of trusted relationships. TTCS, Singapore (Associate Partner): Thales Technology Centre Singapore (TTCS) was established in November 2002 as a focal point of technological collaboration jointly initiated by the Thales R&D community and the Singapore’s research, defense and industrial eco-system. The strategy of TTCS lies on translating the fundamental research findings into technology bricks that can be inserted into target applications. These dual-use technology platforms include Photonics, Advanced Electronics, Wireless Systems (satellite communication, geo-localization, positioning) and Interactive Media. |
